Good Life

Every once in a while I go through the piles that build up in my studio...you know, the stuff that must be saved or attended to, but at that moment you have no idea what to do with it. Well, maybe you don't know that feeling, but organization comes hard to me. It's the dark side of someone who is so visual she can see it done, whether it is done or not. I don't mind messes because I can see in my mind what should be, what could be, what will be, eventually. I went through one of those stacks-of-stuff yesterday and found this little painting. Several prints of it have sold, but I've never pushed selling the original. There's something about it that holds me.
I love sheep.

This morning I finished reading Philip Kellor's old book "A Shepherd Looks at the Twenty Third Psalm". He wrote it in the seventies, and I've read it several times over the years. (I can't believe I just said something written in the seventies is old...). I think this book has connected my visual love for sheep with the heart-tug I feel for them. As I have passed through life's current dark valleys, I realize again that the Lord truly is my Shepherd.

I have two more sheep paintings underway... His sheep am I.
